Okay, this is a proud sibling moment. My sister Colleen LaBaff was invited to be on the judging panel for the Academy Awards! She’s been doing hair and makeup in the movie biz for the better part of 30 years.
Rather than listing all the big movies she’s worked on, what’s more impressive is how selfless this woman is. When the COVID crisis shut down nearly every live-action production, she could have used that time to create custom wigs that she sells to the industry, but instead, she beelined to our parents home. For the past four months, she’s been cooking, cleaning, shopping, and simply spending quality time with them.
That’s the kind of person she is. Always putting the needs of others first. Whenever she’s around, the energy and life of the room raise at least 50%. That’s something my mom and dad really needed. These are the kind of stats you won’t read on a resume or IMDB page.
She now gets the privilege to help choose who gets that coveted Hollywood statue, but I think she’s the one who deserves the Oscar.
Help me raise a glass of wine to my dear sister Colleen (she loves her wine), and congratulate her on this very cool occasion.
